Approximately 6 months.
What health risks or medications have been reduced or eliminated?
Lower both my cholesterol and blood pressure medicine. I have stopped taking
my cholesterol medication totally and I am down to one blood pressure pill.

My doctor explained to me I had to make a change.
What were your previous weight loss efforts like? How is this one different?
I tried weight watchers and while I was on it, it was fine, but the minute I was off
back came the weight. Counting calories made my success a lot easier to manage.
How did you feel losing weight?
I actually felt better physically and mentally.
How have your family and friends reacted?
Everyone has been amazed at the way I look now. They are always asking what diet I am on. They can’t believe counting calories works. I explain it’s not a diet; it’s a life style change.
What eating changes have helped you the most?
Smaller portions of all the food I am used to eating. I can still go to Dairy Queen and have a cone!!!!!!!!
What physical activity changes have helped you the most?
My wife and I have started walking over at the University in Georgetown on their indoor track.
What is your current physical activity like?
We try and walk at least 3 times a week.
What tips do you have for others?
Once you make up your mind to change, you have to stick with it or you won’t be
successful.
What’s your favorite low-calorie snack food?
Popcorn. It’s the most bang for the calorie when you want to snack and are short on calories for the day.
