What is Lifestyle Coaching?

Lifestyle coaching is a unique and powerful means to achieving healthy behaviors-- including improved nutrition, wellness promotion, weight loss, stress management and personal training--that bring out the best in you for your physical, mental and emotional fitness.

Coaching isn't about delving into the past; it's about your creating a better future for yourself. It's about working with the skills you have to discover solutions that work. Lifestyle coaching is about effective goal setting, strategies for achieving them, and letting your best emerge.

You set the goals, you make the decisions, you do the work. Your coach is a guide, helping you make positive changes.

Who needs a Lifestyle Coach?

People who:

When do you need Lifestyle Coaching?

  • When what you're doing isn't working
  • When you know what to do but can't seem to do it
  • When you need an extra push
  • When you want extra guidance and support
  • When you're ready to try something new

How does Lifestyle Coaching differ from therapy, teaching or training?

  • Coaching is a team effort, focusing on the "now" and the future, not dealing with the "past", unresolved issues, or feelings.
  • Coaching utilizes your strengths and intuitions, dealing with a "well" person who wants to improve his/her life.
  • Coaching does not involve your coach telling you what to do. You set the goals, you make the decisions, you do the work. Your coach is a guide, helping you to make positive changes.

Are you ready for Lifestyle Coaching?

How true are these statements?

  • I am ready to take coaching seriously.
  • I am fully willing to do the work, take responsibility for myself, and let the coach do the coaching.
  • I am ready to make an increased investment in time and resources to speed up the rate of change in my life.
  • I am committed to making the changes necessary to achieve my goals.
  • I see coaching as a worthwhile investment in my life.

How does Lifestyle Coaching work?

Lifestyle Coaching can be conducted in person, on the phone, or over the internet. Most coaching sessions are done over the phone, at mutually agreed-upon times and days. This means that you don't have to leave your office and travel, and you can be located anywhere in the country or the world.

Prior to our first appointment, you (the client) complete and return a "client assessment form". This form gives me (the coach) the opportunity to learn a little about you and to get some background information before we meet. It also shows me where you currently are with your healthy lifestyle behaviors. It's ok if you're not too far along with them; that's why you're going to a coach. After this, we schedule our first meeting.

Our first meeting takes 75-90 minutes. During this meeting, we discuss your current behaviors, as well as the goals you have. By the end of the meeting, you have set specific short-term and long-term goals, as well as a weekly goal to work toward.

Subsequent meetings are generally once a week for the first month, for 20-30 minutes each meeting. We discuss your progress, and work toward helping you achieve your goals.

After the first month, we may continue to meet weekly, or may meet less often. The frequency of our meetings will be jointly determined, as we see how you're doing.

Between appointments, I am available by e-mail (at no charge). I make every effort to answer your e-mails within 24 hours. Between-session phone calls can also be arranged at a discounted rate.

How much does it cost?

The first session (75-90 minutes) is $100. Subsequent sessions are $35 each. Payment for the first month ($205) should be paid at the first session. I accept PayPal, MasterCard and Visa as payment.

What do I do next?

If you're ready to make the journey to a better, healthier, happier you, e-mail me at fran@lifestyleconsulting.com to get your client assessment form and to set up your first appointment. I look forward to helping guide you in this process.
